Prince Harry’s surname move puts Royal reunion with King Charles in doubt
Prince Harry’s wanted to change his surname from Mountbatten-Windsor to Spencer, as per recent reports, which has cast fresh doubt over any hope of reconciliation with King Charles.
During a recent visit to the UK, the Duke of Sussex is said to have spoken to his uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, about adopting his late mother Princess Diana’s maiden name.
Writing for GB News, Dorothy Reddin said the move is expected to deeply affect his cancer-stricken father.
“Prince Harry’s recent revelation will leave King Charles heartbroken, as any hope of reconciliation now appears to be in tatters,” she wrote.
She noted that it is “understood” that the Earl Spencer warned the Duke of Sussex against moving ahead with his wish.
“They had a very amicable conversation and Spencer advised him against taking such a step,” a pal of Harry told Mail on Sunday.
Reddin penned, “The revelation that Prince Harry wanted to drop Mountbatten-Windsor in favour of Spencer will likely leave his estranged father, King Charles, heartbroken.
“It is difficult to understand how the latest revelation about Harry wanting to switch surnames will help bring forward a royal reconciliation.”
