Kensington Palace ‘earliest convenience’ becomes a half-year wait

Prince Williams visit: Kensington Palace earliest convenience becomes a half-year wait

Prince William on June 4 made his first visit to the 4 Regiment Army Air Corps on Wednesday (June 4) since becoming Colonel-in-Chief last year.

The Kensington Palace released multiple pictures and videos of the Prince of Wales arriving at the  at Wattisham Air Base.

In a statement issued by the royal, he was “Proud to visit the Army Air Corps as its Colonel-in-Chief. Great to spend time with the soldiers and their families here at Wattisham Air Base.”

He said, “Thank you for the warm welcome and heartening to see the strength of the regiment’s community. Very impressed by the relentless commitment, physical capability and mental acuity on display at the combat PT session. An excellent reflection of the Army Air Corps’ readiness and professionalism.”

He also thanked the soldiers and families of the AAC for the warm welcome.

Interestingly, it took William almost six months to undertake the visit after it was first cancelled in January due to the poor weather.

Reports at the time said that the Prince of Wales was planning to visit families and servicemen and women at the military regiment.

But the weather meant that the outing to the Army Air Corps (AAC) regiment in Wattisham, Suffolk, had to be postponed.

In a message, Kensington Palace said the poor weather would have “significantly restricted the planned program.”

The palace said, “The Prince of Wales sends his sincere apologies to those who he had been due to meet and hopes to reschedule his visit at the earliest convenience.”
