Kendrick Lamar edges ahead of Drake in major event

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been locked in a battle for over a year, and as the beef between them intensifies, the latter appears to be ahead of Drizzy.
The latest example is the 2025 BET Awards. The Pulitzer Prize winner won in five categories after being named in ten. In contrast, the One Dance rapper won none after being nominated in four categories.
His wins included Album of the Year for GNX, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and Video of the Year.
Along with winning Best Collaboration for Luther featuring SZA and Video, the GNX rapper also picked up Director of the Year with creative partner Dave Free.
Dominating the BET Awards, Kendrick remained grateful in his acceptance speech, hailing the award show for celebrating black artists.
“BET always make sure they represent the culture right and always put me in the midst of the cycle of what we represent.”
“And that’s real true down-to-earth music that people can feel,” the Grammy winner added before giving a shout-out to SZA. “SZA in the crowd. We are on tour right now; please come to the show.”
Kendrick’s historic win also marked the 25th anniversary of the BET Awards, with Kevin Hart returning as the host.
