Justin Baldoni’s ‘Jane the Virgin’ costar reacts to Blake Lively lawsuit
Brett Dier is extending his support for his former Jane the Virgin costar Justin Baldoni amid the ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively.
In an interview for Fan Mail newsletter, Dier was asked about the actor-director’s situation and whether he faces the pressure to speak on it publicly.
Dier, 35, admitted to being asked about it “a lot,” calling it a “really intense situation”.
“I probably shouldn’t say much, but I’ll say this: I always loved Justin,” Dier said. “He’s always been an amazing friend to me.”
He added that he’s “just hoping everything resolves in time.”
Gina Rodriguez, who plays the titular character in the series, also spoke fondly of Baldoni two months before Lively filed the sexual harassment complaint.
“That guy is… that’s my brother forever. Forever and ever,” Rodriguez told People Magazine in September ahead of the 10th anniversary of Jane the Virgin‘s premiere.
She said he was “hands down…the person I stay in touch with the most, for sure,” from the cast, though she mentioned Dier and Yael Groblas as other costars she’s in touch with. “But Justin is just my brother.”
For those unversed, Baldoni challenged Lively’s complaint shortly after, countersuing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane in January.
Both cases in Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al. are scheduled for March 2026.
